Sola Sobowale receives honorary doctorate from Benin Republic varsity

Sola Sobowale, the Nigerian actress, has received an honorary doctorate degree from Estam University in Benin Republic. 


The actress disclosed this in a post via her Instagram page on Sunday.

The movie star also accompanied the post with pictures of herself adorned in a graduation gown.

Sobowale appreciated the institution for the honour conferred on her.


“Welcome to a new dispensation – Sola Sobowale is now a doctor,” she wrote on her Instagram page.

“Big thank you for this honour.”


The 58-year-old actress had her big break in 2001 in ‘Super Story: Oh Father, Oh Daughter’, the classic Nigerian series.


In 2018, she played the major role in ‘King of Boys’ and its sequel.

In the film, Sobowale took the character of Eniola Salami, the businesswoman and villain whose insatiable appetite for power drives her into politics.

She also received the award for Best Actress at the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) in 2019.

Some of the films she has featured include ‘The Village Headmaster’, ‘Mirror in the Sun’, and ‘Asewo To Re Mecca’.
