Our main focus is to get Youths out of the street- Sode

The President of Sagamu Development Forum International SDF, Chief Mrs Adeola Sode has disclosed the objective of the forum as focusing on taking youths out of the street and empowering them in one vocational skill or the other to be self-reliant. 

Sode spoke on Friday during the graduation and donation of  Sawing Machines and instruments that will aid the work in Fashion Designing held at Revolution Gardens & Recreational Centre, Sagamu Ogun state.

She noted that the forum started the initiative in 2021 in vocational skills like Fashion Designing, Barbing Saloon and Hair Dressing with Ten trainees, while Five of them are graduating today.

She emphasized that the forum is trying to support some parents who are not financially buoyant to send their children to school or ability to establish them.

"We started this initiative in 2021. We have trainees in Fashion Designing, Barbing Saloon, and Hair Dressing but today we are here for Fashion Designing Graduation with a total number of Ten Trainees but Five of them are graduating today. Probably by next year, others will graduate.

"We have many things and we have been able to execute some. Our main focus is to get the Youth out of the street, some are under financial constraints and those cannot afford to attend technical school.

"We come together and said what can we do to help and support parents who cannot afford to train children and government cannot level up to their expectations.

She, however, advised the Youths to look at what is happening in their environment, especially in Nigeria as a whole. She said in the 2023 coming Election, they should vote for the right candidates that are interested in their future.

In his speech, a member of the firm and the Head of SDF Entrepreneurial & Vocational Training Institute, Dr Adedara Oduguwa described SDF as a forum that encourages the people and government and implored the people to join them for the continuation of the good work.

He noted that the SDF initiative started in the UK with members from all over the world. He also disclosed that it is not only vocational training that the forum is doing. The forum has donated Borehole to communities in Sagamu, such as Panoda Soyindo Community and Odofin in Council in Sagamu-Remo.

One of the beneficiaries, Rufai Monsurat Bukola appreciated SDF for their good gesture and pray to God to continue to be with them. She also expressed what she has been able to do. 

Other beneficiaries are Ogunjimi Toheeb Kazeem Zainab Talabi Mary Omowumi Sokoya Sakira.
