Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), on Friday, attended the ongoing convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
Obi’s presence at the convention is a first for the presidential candidate.
The development comes days after Obi received a standing ovation from worshippers at Dunamis international gospel centre in Abuja.
However, Obi is not the first politician to visit the RCCG camp ground during the church’s convention.
In 2010, Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation, attended the convention — he was governor of Rivers at the time.
In 2012, former President Goodluck Jonathan paid a visit to the camp ground during the convention.
In 2015, Jonathan, who was vying for the presidency at the time, also visited the camp during the February edition of the Holy Ghost congress.
Also present during the February 2015 visit was Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, who was a candidate at the time as well.
The 2022 RCCG convention is the 70th edition for the church.
