The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, has sacked one Hon. Taiwo Abdulrasaq Adegboye as the newly appointed Alawo of Awo,the headquarters of Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State.

According to the source from the Appeal Court in Appeal N0:CA/AK/58/2021, while setting aside the illegal appointment of Taiwo Adegboye as new Alawo, the Court ruled that Adegboye should not be recognized as monarch by any authority in and outside the State henceforth by stopping parading himself as monarch.

Hon. Adegboye was immediate past Leader of the Legislative Arm of Egbedore Local Government Area of the State, under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) government, adding that Adegboye's appointment has been sorrounded with fraudulent processes which made the aggrieve people of the ancient town of Awo to seek redress in the Court of competent jurisdiction.

The report has it that Adegboye was fraudulently appointed as new Alawo by Governor Gboyega Oyetola on 13th of September,2021 because of his active membership of the outgoing ruling party, All Progressive Congress(APC) in the State.

Information also has it that Adegboye's appointment was orchestrated with forgery of selection documents, flagrant disobedience to Court Orders and usage of wrongful law of repealed and outdated 1957 Alawo of Awo Chieftaincy Declaration, instead of subsisting Registered 1979 Alawo of Awo Chieftaincy Declaration.

Investigation revealed that, the Abioye Ruling House/Compound,Awo that supposed to fill the vacant stool of Alawo after the demise of Oba Musa Olatunbosun Adebayo, Akinsilo II,produced two candidates that obtained the Interest of Expression Forms in the year 2020 to fill the vacant stool of Alawo but Adegboye used dubious means to be on the throne illegally.

The Abioye Ruling House/ Compound,Awo, had seven branches as follows;(I) Alimi Adeniyi,(ii)Shittu Olaniyan,(iii) Salami Adetoyi/Jimoh Aderinola,(iv) Olawuyi,(v) Lawal Adedayo/Aremu Adesola/Adediran,(vi)Abidoye Gboyelade and (vii) Adegboye,  where Prince (Comrade)  Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman and Prince Taiwo Abdulrasaq Adegboye were the two candidates emerged for the stool of Alawo.

But it was learnt that Adegboye used fraudulent means that devoid of due process to get himself appointed as new Alawo on 13th of September,2021 by Oyetola, which the Court of Appeal, had nullified the appointment now.

The Appeal Court, presided over by Hon.Justice Lokulo Sodipo,in the lead judgment read by Hon.Justice Abiru set aside the appointment and installation of Adegboye as monarch of the ancient town and restrained him from parading himself or wear any insignia of office as Alawo of Awo.

The Court lambasted the office of the Osun State Attorney- General  and Commissioner for Justice for misleading Gboyega Oyetola led Government in approving the appointment and installation of Taken Adegboye as new Alawo, declaring that the action of the State Government is contemptuous of the Court.

Reacting to the judgement, the second candidate for the stool from Abioye Ruling House/Compound,Awo,Prince(Comrade) Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, salutes the judicial courage and sagacity of the Presiding Judges of the Appeal Court for delivering a landmark judgement on the matter.

Sulaiman said,' This is land judgement which separates truth from falsehood and this also a victory for the truth over falsehood. The presiding Judges have proved to the whole world that they are Judges of truth and justice without fear or favour".
