A Pastor, Taiwo Olaniyi, and his wife, Kemi, have been arrested by the Osun State Police Command for the death of three persons in their church during deliverance.

The development was revealed in a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, on Friday.

Olaniyi, 48, and Kemi, 28, who are the founders of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, are said to be operating a healing centre and trado-medical home in the church.

One Rasheedat Mufutau, 58, was reported to have been taken to the church because she has diabetes.

Mufutau, however, died.

Another 48-year-old woman, Basira Anifowose, and a nine-month old boy, Abdul-Rahman Afolabi, also reportedly died in the church.

Opalola said three persons were arrested, but the third suspect was released because he was just a church member.

She said: “We are still investigating the matter to know the cause of their death.

“The third suspect had been released because he was just a church member.

“He was just in the church when the police got there.”
