Labour Party has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign from his office for inability to protect Nigerians.
LP made the call following the spate of killings, banditry across the country and the recent attack on Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre that led to the flushing of 64 terrorists and hundreds of hardened criminals into the city and country
The party also advised members of Buhari's cabinet, especially the Minister of Defence and his counterpart in the Interior ministry to resign, before they and the President surrendered Nigeria and its citizens to the killers and bandits.
The LP made gave the advice on Sallah Day through its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Arabambi Abayomi.
The party which recalls the recent shooting incident near Dutsinma, Katsina State, at the convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah, regretted that even the country's symbol of nationhood was a victim of a daring attack by killers and bandits being tolerated by President Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) controlled government.
LP which also claimed that tens of soldiers were killed recently in the north when bandits ambushed them, urged Nigerians to use the forthcoming 2023 general elections to sack APC and elect candidate of the party, Peter Obi, in order to end the circus of bloodletting in the country.
"Labour party at this juncture wish to remind Nigerians that our dear country administration with respect to civil and military control is on autopilot because on Wednesday last week, bandits invaded a mining site at Ajata-Aboki in Gurmana Ward of Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State where some persons were killed, and others abducted.
"These outlaws have been very unrelentingly and frontally unleashing terror in virtually all the Communities in Nigeria across the 36 States. At this point, it has become clearer that the APC Fed Government can't protect itself and its functionaries from the killers and bandits , hence it will be unintelligent for anyone to keep hoping that the same government can deliver on the constitutional responsibility of guaranteeing the safety of the citizens.
"It is quite alarming and disheartening to notice that even while the President has shown that he is lacking the ability to contain the killers and bandits, both the President and his cabinet members are yet unpatriotic enough not to collectively resign.
"Labour Party with a lot of conviction asks the President to request from his cabinet members a mass-resignation as he,the President resigns and firmly dissolves his failed Government.
"Let the APC come up and accept its failed Governance. Of course, even the most gullible should at this moment see that the only option is for the PMB Led APC Government to step down and allow Nigeria to once again take positive steps to save the country and move out of the dangerous but official ways and means of the APC that sustain the killers and bandits.
Of course , it is very fortunate that the nation has been timely blessed with a highly focused political party in the color of LP that is convincingly organized , widely accepted as a very positive alternative parading a symbol and flag bearer in the name of Peter Obi .... The current toast and preferred candidate for the seat of Nigeria's Mr President by the barometer of public opinion.
"Peter Obi is the one and single healthy , energetic , mentally and physically very prepared and ready candidate on offer for the office of Mr President .
"He is the one and only presidential candidate without hidden political conspiracy in the race towards 2023.
Nigerians should actively support and vote massively for Peter Obi and Labour Party for a healthy and peaceful Nigeria post 2023.
" It is quite lame and unnecessary to get recalling the fate of the abducted Nigerians during the railway attack by killers and the bandits over which this failed APC Government has remained helpless and clueless.
"While Nigerians are living under gross apprehension over the unrestrained and bolder attacks of the killers, the Kuje Correctional home was attacked and very many supposedly jailed Boko Haram terrorists were freed . All that the failed PMB Led APC Government keeps offering is the same impotent promise of putting a stop to the killings , the same promise that has been offered in the past insecurity - branded 7 years.
"Nigerians must be prepared to get the right candidate and party into the governance of the nation, the Labour Party and Peter Obi its Presidential Flag Bearer fits the need very rightly," it stated in a statement on Sunday.
