The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL) has written the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC), to investigate an alleged corruption levelled against the Medical Director of Federal Medical Center, FMC, Abeokuta, Prof. Adewale Musa Olomu.
CACOL in a letter addressed to the Chairman of ICPC, and signed by its Chairman, Debo Adeniran stated that the reminder was based on the various petitions against the Medical Director as alleged by All Youths Reoriented Initiative of Nigeria (AYRION) and Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA)
The letter dated May 9, 2022 with the title 'Reminder- Demand for thorough due diligent investigation of the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Ogun State, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu', alleged that the Medical Director need to be speedily investigated for alleged age falsfication, discrepancy in the name, mismanagement of funds, employment of his biological son and within a year of employment, granted him study leave in an
European country with pay"
"From our observation, the responses that the organisations got from your Commission do not show that this case has been handled with the seriousness it demands.
"It is our believe that any matter that has to do with public health such as that of the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, should be treated with utmost urgency since the issues that are involved could lower the quality of service that citizens receive from that Centre.
"We also believe that it should form your priority to look into this case, more so, that you are supposed to have your desk in the form of Anti-
Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) in that centre meaning that your Commission is supposed to be part and parcel of inflow and outflow of resources in that Centre, so they should be in complete know of what those organisations were complaining about.
"So, it is on this note that we believe that you are not going to leave any stone unturned in ensuring that thorough investigation are done and
due diligent prosecution of the culprit is carried out if he turned out to be.
"CACOL as you are aware is an aggregate of human rights, community based and civil society organizations and individuals with an anti-corruption and openness in governance agenda across Nigeria. It is a non-political, non-religious, non-sectarian, non-profit organisation.
"We believe that the hallmark of the new ICPC should be openness and active Involvement in public interest issues lIke this. To this end we would want to implore you to use your good offices to commence due diligent investigation into this case if it had not been investigated and if the investigation is on-going, we Would still beg you to intensify efforts aimed at getting to the root of these
petitions and we would be glad to be carried along as you progress.
"We would appreciate your leading role in the efforts aimed at sanitizing our public service of corruption and its perpetrators.
