The police have arrested a 17-year-old boy over the alleged murder of his employer identified as Onoberehie Peter in Benin city, the Edo State capital.

The suspect Chukwuebuka Nwode was alleged to have conspired with Oginika Ukafor, 19, and Celestine Ukane, 19, to kill his employer and then stole his Lexus 330 with the intention to sell the vehicle.

The deceased was said to have recently returned from overseas with his family and set up a sachet water company.

Parading the suspects alongside 8 others, the Edo State Police Command’s spokesperson, Kontongs Bello, said the suspects were arrested on April 5, for armed robbery and conspiracy.

He said Nwode conspired with Okafor and Ukane to kill his employer and stole his car, adding that they were arrested by the police at the point of selling the car.

In an interview with journalists, Nwode said he came to Benin last month and got employed in a bakery but was laid off before he was offered a job in the pure water company as a loader.

He said his boss didn’t offend him but he killed him to steal his Lexus 330 jeep.

On his part, Okafor said the prime suspect only told him that he came from Ghana and should help drive the car to Uwelu spare parts market.
