The Imo council of Chiefs, on Wednesday shed more lights on the controversy surrounding the original owner of Agodo community a town in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State, declaring that the Owu people and any other tribe living or residing in Agodo are either settlers or customary tenants.
The Chiefs arising from its meeting on Wednesday while reacting to a recent outburst of one Ajani Sotade, who according to him is an old man and his own Baale.
The Council of Chiefs maintained their earlier position that the slained monarch, Oba Olajide Odetola was the authentic ruler of Agodo.
They maintained that it was their duty to present any Prince to Alake for elevation to a coronet Oba and no other community has the right.
Agodo was founded by an Imo hunter by the name Okuribido, who had left Abeokuta on hunting expedition and found the place suitable for his hunting business and dwelling.
The council also said the man who claimed to be 89years only came to settle in the village in 1965 and his own father came earlier to settle in Agodo ten years earlier in 1955.
Agodo was bounded by Atototan and ASA villages,
The place soon attracted some other settlers who also joined him and his family in living there
It was the benevolence and magnanimity of Okuribido family that gave them the opportunity of dwelling with them.
The council warned that they will not allow these Owu people to destroy their homestead the way they destroyed Atototan village, their own original homestead.
The council of chiefs also said the murdered Oba was installed Baale in 2017 and got elevated to coronet Oba in 2019, by Ogun state Government and crowned by Alake of Egbaland.
They said further that, the inhabitants of Atototan are crisis happy people and before their village went into extinction, there was always one crisis or another, the traits they are displaying recently
If these Owu people have any objections, one would have expected them to seek redress or challenge the appointment in the court of law, which they opined, the most honorable thing to do.
You cannot leverage on your sons that have the benefit of political office to turn yourself into community grabber.
