Lecturer shot as ‘robbers’ attack Ibadan Poly staff quarters

The Polytechnic of Ibadan has confirmed an attack by suspected armed robbers on the institution’s staff quarters.

 
The institution also disclosed that the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday.


Soladoye Adewole, the public relations officer at the polytechnic, spoke in a chat with NAN.


He said the attack occurred at about 12:30 am at the north campus of the polytechnic.

 
The PRO said a lecturer in the Department of Biology identified as Okedara Emmanuel was injured in the attack.


Adewole said Okedara was rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan for treatment.


He clarified that no life was lost while the lecturer, who sustained gunshot wounds, is responding to treatment.

 
According to the PRO, the matter has been reported to the police and security has been scaled up at the campus.
