Suit seeking President Buhari's removal gets July 21 hearing date

By Our Correspondent

The Federal High Court, Abuja has fixed July 21 for hearing in a suit instituted against President Muhammadu Buhari by a former presidential candidate, Chief Ambrose Owuru, seeking an order to declare his seat vacant on the ground that he “was not the winner of the February 2019 presidential election.”

The date has since been communicated to all parties through the court bailiff.

Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, had assigned the case to Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo for adjudication.

Aside Buhari, other defendants in the suit with reference number, FHC/ABJ/CS/480/2021, are the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The suit is coming more than two years after the conduct of the poll.
