The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has described the alleged increase of Ex-Depot price of petroleum motor spirit from 147.67 to 155.75.50 without any consideration for the current economic and political situation of the country as uncalled for.
According to IPMAN, the increase is exclusive of Marketers margin, transportation, loading expenses etc. saying, the Government is insensitive to the plight of Marketers and the masses.
The Petroleum independent marketers therefore, appealed to the federal government to stay action before implementing the new Ex-Depot price announced by the management of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
In a press statement issued late last night in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, IPMAN's South West Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Dele Tajudeen said the plea became necessary so as not to provoke the anger of the Nigerian masses who are going through economic hardship.
"We are therefore pleading with Federal Government to shelve the plan increase until further notice to give room for consideration and adjustment.
"Without any consideration to the stake holders plights, they increased the new regime price which NNPC Management saying it would be effective from tomorrow Friday, 13th 2020" Tajudeen stressed with concern.
"He declared further that
IPMAN will hold emergency meeting with other stakeholders tomorrow to trash out this unbecoming and the arbitrary increase in the Ex-Depot prices". He concluded.
