The new Nigerian Bar Association has written the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, intimating him of the progress of the formation of the Association.

This is contained in a letter dated 28th day of August, 2020 written to the AGF, signed by Nuhu Ibrahim, Esq., and Abdulbasit Suleiman, Esq., which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer(TNL)

“We are pleased to inform you of the formation of a new Association of Lawyers as above captioned.”

Furthermore, they noted that the formation is necessary in the light of the recent happenings in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

“The formation of the new Association has become imperative and expedient especially flowing from the activities, disposition and most recently, the decision of the Nigerian Bar Association-NEC which apparently failed to take into consideration our national interests and particularly do not promote the unity of our indissoluble country, Nigeria.”

“Sir, the New Nigerian Bar Association believes in the ideals that bounds our country together as echoed in our National Anthem:

“The Labours of our heroes past shall never be in vain””. They added.

Meanwhile, they stated that the AGF will be kept informed as to the activities of the Association.

“You are, however, to be further informed that work is in progress with regards to all the nitty-gritty of the formation of an Association such as this to which we shall keep you updated.”

Salient Times recalls that the New Nigerian Bar Association declared a formation of the Association as an offshoot of the decision of the NBA-NEC dis-inviting Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai as a speaker in the concluded NBA Virtual Annual General Conference (AGC).
