FGM: Woman cries out over death threat

Worried by constant threat to her life, a retired Civill Servant in Ekiti state, has cried out, asking security operatives to come to her aid.

Salient Times reports that the woman, Mrs Adenike Otubogun, a native of Aramoko made her predicament known in a chat with a group of selected Journalists, noting that traditionalists from the family of her daughters husband were vowing to make life uncomfortable for her.

 "My alleged offence is that I was habouring and shielding my Daughter, Bukola Opara who they claimed refused to produce her children Chidinma and Chioma for circumcision, as demanded by her husband's family tradition" the woman said with consternation. 

She explained that at a point the mother of her son in law, one Florence sent a delegation, among them a local priest to her daughter's residence in Lagos state to forcefully take her grand children to the village for circumcision, but for the intervention of God.

"My Daughter and her two children had to move out of their residence for safet" the retired civil servant noted, adding that inspite of this, the Opara family members have remained  resolute in their search for her daughter, Bukola and her two children ".

Mrs Otubogun added further that her in laws vowed to make life miserable for me, my Daughter and her Children, if we refused to comply with their request that Chidinma and Chioma be circumcised, she stress.

They call me bad names and threatened  to deal with me, in fact, my life is no longer safe, they have continued to call my telephone number, saying grave consequences awaits me, should I continue to back my Daughter on her recalcitrant behavior, they even paid nocturnal visits to my house, telling me that the calamities such as mysterious deaths happening in their family were all due to Bukola's refusal to dance to their tunes "Mrs Otubogun added with bewilderment. 

She called on Security operatives to come to her assistance before she is killed in her prime.
