Man sentence to 18 months in prison for insulting Buhari

Mr Lawal Izala who allegedly insulted president Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Aminu Masari last week has been sentenced to 18 months in prison on Tuesday in Katsina State.

According to Sahara reporters, Mr Izala while addressing newsmen on the same day of his judgement said it was the anger of how his family members were killed by some bandits and what they did to his cows that made him to have spoken the way he spoke earlier that led to his arrest.

As luck would have it have it for Mr. Lawal Izala, he was given two options to choose from; originally he was to serve 6 months for insulting the Governor and 12 months for insulting the president but the Court gave option of paying fines of N10,000 for the governor's case and N20,000 for Buhari's case. As we speak, some good people around have paid the N30,000 on his behalf.
