Following the confirmation and death of a pregnant woman, and a male patient of Covid-19 related cases at Federal Medical Center, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, health workers and visitors to the hospital now live in fears.
Salient Times gathered that a pregnant woman who was admitted to Gynaecology Emergency department, and a male patient had tested positive to the dreaded virus.
The source confirmed that the pregnant woman died before the arrival of her result .
All concerned Doctors and Nurses are being tracked and asked to self isolate.
"A male patient was admitted on Monday and the result came out today.
" The patient was moving from one cubicle to the other since admission at ETR.
The other patient had been reportedly transferred to Ogun COVID - 19 Isolation centre at Ikenne, while the deceased's body was said to have been deposited at the FMC mortuary.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the FMC, Segun Orisajo neither confirmed or denied the development.
He said that the management of the FMC would be meeting tomorrow to make official response.
"I am not in the position presently to confirm or otherwise of your request. Kindly hold on till tomorrow when the Management will make known its official response after due observance of laid down protocols on such a matter", Orisajo said in a text message to our correspondent.
On her part, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker while responding to enquiry, said "I am aware of the unfortunate demise of an obstetric patient at FMC. However, I am yet to receive a report from the clinical team at FMC."
