Police Rescue 10-Year-Old Girl Locked By Father In Oyo For Days Without Food

A 10-year-old girl, who was allegedly imprisoned by her father, has been rescued by the Oyo State Police Command.

The spokesman for the Oyo Police Command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, told journalists that the girl was rescued on Saturday after being locked up in a room for three days without food by her father, who is currently on the run.

Mr. Ajisebutu said the girl was rescued by policemen from the Challenge Police Station.

“The police had acted on a tip-off from neighbours. The police responded swiftly and visited the house at Ajeigbe area, Ring Road, Ibadan.

“On arrival at the scene, it was discovered that three padlocks were used to lock the room. The locks had to be broken by the police before the little girl could be rescued”, he added.

He further stated that the girl had been properly fed and taken to the police clinic for medical attention.

The police spokesman said that the case was under investigation and that efforts had been intensified to apprehend the suspect, who was at large.
