The wife of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. (Mrs.) Tamunominini Makinde, has urged women to embrace periodic checks and physical exercise.
Mr Sunday Ogundare, her media officer said that the Governor's wife made the remark during the walk for fitness organized by Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Oyo State Women Chapter to commemorate this years 2020 International Women's Day tagged" I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women's Rights.
Addressing the women, the Governor's wife said exercise has many health benefits such as protection of joints, knees and hips as well as lower blood sugar.
She urged women to embrace periodic medical health check ups like breast examination blood level, blood pressure among others to know their health status.
Mrs. Makinde reiterated that present administration is committed to the welfare and wellbeing of women in the State regardless of their social status.
Also speaking, the wife of the Deputy Governor, Dr Bolanle Olaniyan, urged women to take the education of their children seriously, stressing that education is the bedrock of development.
In her own words, the lyaloja of Bodija Market, Chief Mrs. Victoria Onipede appreciated the present admistration for the various women friendly programmes and policies.
The wife of the Governor led other top Government functionaries such as Deputy Governor's wife, Head of Service, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Permanent Secretary and the women wing of the NLC and TUC in a fitness walk from the Secretariat to Bodija Market in Ibadan.
