Newly inducted Principals and Zonal Secretaries in the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) have been charged to cultivate professional skills that would enhance their performance in various schools posted to.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Sidi Osho, gave the charge at the Induction of 50 Principals and four Zonal Secretaries, at Lisabi Grammar School, Idi-Aba in Abeokuta, saying the inductees were selected on merits, as the present administration, led by Prince Dapo Abiodun, placed premium on equity and justice.
Prof. Osho said that the State Government was committed to revamping the education sector by ensuring adequate teachers’ welfare, renovation and construction of schools, among others, admonishing the inductees to justify government’s huge investment and be disciplined.
She enjoined them to monitor their health to maximise productivity, urging them to ‘’build great destinies that would transform the country’’.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary, Secondary and Technical Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, while delivering her lecture, charged the inductees to embrace the mission of accomplishing the desired goals in their various schools.
According to her, "leaders should identify their staff’s strength and weaknesses to promote peaceful coexistence among them".
Mrs. Soyombo noted that Principals must have a good library in their office to encourage reading culture in their wards, advising the inductees to spur their staff to acquire academic knowledge, as this would pave way for education excellent.
In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, TESCOM, Mrs. Mojisola Dosunmu, represented by the Director of Information in the Commission, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, said the induction was germane to the development of education in the state, saying the inductees should see their elevation as an opportunity to further contribute their quota to the success of their schools.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, Dr. Mrs. Modupe Womiloju, implored the inductees, whom she described as education ambassadors, to support the present government in providing qualitative education.
