Towards containing the spread of Corona Virus into Ijebu Ode Local Government area of Ogun State, the Engr. Gbenga Olugbile-led administration of the local government has approved the Constitution of a Committee on Corona Virus.
The committee which has as its Chairman, the Council's Supervisor for Health, Mrs. Abiodun Amisu, was inaugurated on Monday, 16th March, 2020, following a directive from the Ogun State Ministry of Health.
In his address at the inaugural meeting of the committee, held at the council secretariat on Monday, the Head of Local Government Administration and Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Adeolu Olufowobi, disclosed the efforts so far made by the local government and its plans at sensitizing the people of the local government area through the religious, and community associations, as well as other stakeholders. He further hinted of the council's plans of taking the campaign to all the forty three primary schools in Ijebu Ode Local Government, through the distribution of Hand Washing Equipments and Materials to them.
While corroborating Dr. ADEOLU, the Secretary of the Committee, Mrs. BAKARE, and the Director, Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation of the local government, San. Saburi OGUNSOLU, dwelt extensively on the origin, causes, prevention, and treatment of the virus.
They advised people to always avoid crowded places, desist from handshake, wash their hands regularly with antiseptic soap or make use of hand sanitizers, and that they must use tissue or serviette paper while coughing, instead of using bare hands.
Other members of the committee are the Supervisor for Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation, Comrade Niyi QUADRI; Director of Information, Education and Sports, Mr. Tope OYEKAN; the Apex Nurse, Mrs. Titilola PETER; Deputy Director of Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation, Mr. SONAIKE; Disease Surveillance Officer, Mrs. Basirat BOLARINWA; and representative of the Community Development Department, Mrs. Motunrayo ADISA.
Meanwhile, the council in its effort at making the local government and her people, Corona Virus-free, has today distributed hand washing materials to all the forty three primary schools in the council area.
The distribution which held at the St. Augustine's Catholic Primary School, Ijebu Ode, was performed by the Chairman, Transition Committee of the Local Government, Engr. Gbenga OLUGBILE, and had in attendance, Vice Chairman, Ijebu Ode Local Government, Alhaji Lagun ANIBI; Secretary to Local Government, Dr. Amos OLUWO; Supervisor for Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation, Comrade Niyi QUADRI; the Head of Local Government Administration, Ijebu Ode Local Government, Dr. Adeolu OLUFOWOBI; Members of the Local Government Corona Virus Committee; Acting Education Secretary, Mrs. ODUSOGA; Chairman, Association of Primary School Headteachers of Nigeria, AOPSHON, Ijebu Ode Local Government chapter; and all Headteachers in the local government area.
