The Ogun State chapter of Labour Party has commended the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the various steps taken so far in curtailing the spread of the dreaded corona virus pandenmic in the State.
The Party specifically thanked Prince Abiodun for shifting the date of the total lockdown of the State to Friday in order for the masses not to feel the effects of the lockdown too much.
The Party in a statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi said the gesture showed that Prince Abiodun is a masses friendly governor, who will go extra miles to ensure that their feelings and welfare are well protected.
While speaking on the steps taken so far to curtail the spread of the virus, LP said "the Government of Prince Dapo Abiodun from day one of the intrusion of the dreaded and Covid- 19 into Ogun State through a visiting Italian, has been a non stop hectic round the clock work and more work by the Government with all the resources at the disposal of the State deploy to stop its spread".
"The government in collaboration with the NCDC did a fast but very herculean task of tracing every identified contact of the expatriate and went further to isolate them".
"The governor demonstrated unparalleled determination, great vision, courage and very quality strategic planning with humility and high integrity to tackle the issues one after the other as they unfold, thereby making him sustain the trust of the people and showing to the entire residents of the State that he is truly a very capable leader".
Commenting on the shift in the date of the total lockdown of the State, Labour Party said the good step "taken showed that the government has shown to the people that he is not out to punish the people but to see that every actions that need to be taken are done in order to finally push the virus out of the State and the Country.
"The provision of the food stimulus for the vulnerable in the three senatorial zones, to cushion and ease their inconveniences during the lock down other palliatives are highly commendable.
"We in the Ogun State LP also commended the entire team of health workers and others who are assisting the government to achieve its goal, we wish the government and the Governor a resounding crushing of Covid- 19 in Ogun State and help also across Nigeria".
"Thank you so much Mr Governor.
In the process of giving protection to the citizens of the gateway State , some various units and cells of very many cadres of health workers were like magic miraculously assembled and made immediately functional at the peak.
In furtherance , the Government under the enviable leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun got a number of adequate and suitable structures and made them ready in the 3 senatorial zones of the State.
Besides the above , the Government caused very regular updates on the steps the Government is taking against the spread of the virus to be given to the public and he did personally addressed not a few.
We in Ogun State Labour Party offer tons of thanks to Mr Governor for showing commendable care and consideration for the plight of the commoner , the Labour force , the formal and informal sectors , the market women and their perishable goods , which without the intervention of the Government would have gone to waste".
