A Christian cleric, Amb. Rev. Dr. Olayiwola Mercy of Divine Universal Churches Of Christ International, IDI Mango, Oke Ata Abeokuta, Ogun State, has advised the national leader of All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to jettison his presidential ambition.
Rev Olayiwola Mercy who spoke to some selected Journalists in Abeokuta on the 2023 elections and the future of the country, advised the former Lagos governor to remain as a strong force in the Party rather than nursing the ambition of leading the country.
He said "in 2023, it will be the turn of the Yorubas to produce the President, but Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is not destined to be the President of Nigeria.
It is not for him to be President, but to be a kingmaker or a godfather to who he so ever wants to be the President
He should nominate and support any candidate, but he should not contest as a President because of the risks involved.
"Tinubu is Our leader, and God wants him to remain so, any attempt for him to change this by force, may not be palatable for him".
Speaking on the likelihood of Vice president Osinbajo succeeding President Mohammad Buhari, Rev, Olayiwola Mercy said neither will he also succeed Buhari.
"Vice President Osinbajo is not destined to succeed Buhari, his mission ends by 2023, any attempt for him to succeed Buhari may be disastrous for him".
He condemned the situation where Pastors will be agitating for presidency.
He said Vice President Osinbajo is not representing any Christians or religious group in the present government, but he is there on his own, adding that he ought to have remove 'Pastor' from his name.
"You can not be given two assignments at the same time by God, you either remain as a Pastor or you take politics".
He said in the church, deacons and other church workers can go into politics, or there can be politicians in the church too, but not for Pastors to have both the toga of the Pastors and politicians.
Speaking on the controversy behind the Yoruba as a name, Rev Mercy warned that the misrepresentation of the name should not create any controversy, as the history is clear on the origin of the name.
He said "those championing the change in name, is a strategy to divide us" warning that the controversy is to create division among the Yoruba race ahead 2023 general elections.
