Towards the implementation of Vision 2030 Agenda, the Federal Ministry of Education, in conjunction with the office of the President on Sustainable DEVELOPMENT Goals (SDGs) has organized a World's Largest Lessons for students on the need to be an ambassador of change towards attaining the Sustainable Development Goals.
Speaking during the training for students of Sacred Heart Catholic College, Abeokuta, the State Volunteer, Mrs. Folake Ade Adeniji said the aim was to provide veritable opportunity for children to be exposed to the newly adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), educate them on the SDGs and its benefit on the society, country and world at large.
She charged the students to be an agents of change at reducing the societal vices and moral decadness prevalent in the society, noting that by year 2030, the world would have been a better place to live regardless of gender, economic status, language and colour.
According to her, the country is confronted with various challenges ranging from economy, corruption, environmental pollution as well as global change, calling on the leaders of tomorrow to see the training as an opportunity to keep abreast of the current challenges in order to proffer solutions.
"Every children needs to inculcate the spirit of gender equality, quality education, poverty reduction and other goals of the SDGs, and we believe that the children are veritable tools to preach the gospel right now with the hope that by year 2030, they would have turned adult to reflect the teaching on their children for better society", Mrs. Ade-Adeniji said.
Speaking after the SDGs training, one of the students, Master Judah lreoluwa expressed confidence that with the training, by year 2030 the society would experience global peace, justice and strong institution, saying he sees a new Nigeria where there won't be tribalism or any form of terrorism.
Another student, Miss lyoha Anuoluwapo also pledged in line with global goals l, 4, and 5 that she would give to the poor, encourage friends and families to be educated and ensure that the rights of girls are protected at all times.
