Nigerian lawmaker's children disappear from US hotel

*Cultists after them

Two children of a notable Nigerian politician have absconded in the United States of America over alleged threat to their lives.

The embattled children identified as Damilola, 24, and Ayomide, 21, escaped early this month from their hotel room in New York during a vacation with their father

Sources said the shocked father, who is a legislator, only learned about the whereabouts of his children more than 24 hours after their daring disappearance.

As at the time of this report, both Damilola and Ayomide Kadiri have crossed to the neighbouring Canada to seek asylum, keeping their parents in the dark all along.

Our correspondent gathered that the action of the fleeing children may not be unconnected to the threat to their lives by a dreaded cult group, otherwise called 'Aye' in their native Nigeria.

The cult group which operates in their tertiary institution and its environs had repeatedly attempted to recruit them as members, citing the influence and political status of their father.
