Former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasidi Ladoja has told those proposing to either Islamise Nigeria or "fulanise" her to drop the idea if ever such idea is being muted.

Senator Ladoja who was fielding questions from newsmen in Ibadan during a chat with him after Ramadan festival said that no religion can be imposed on the country.

He described Nigeria as a secular state where every body was free to practise his religion without let or hinderance.

Senator Ladoja wondered why religious extremists such as Boko Haram said that they wanted to force everyone to be Muslims and hide under that umbrella to promote violence in the country.

The former Governor explained that Islam is a religion of peace pointing out that anybody killing ostensibly to force others to accept his faith was not doing that for God and should be treated by law as criminals.

He disclosed that some of his children were married to  non Muslims adding that he could not wage war to destroy his own blood.

The former Lawmaker decried the criminal activities of some people alleged to be Fulani who have decided to be invading other peoples farm with their cattle adding that it would not be acceptable to destroy peoples crops to feed their cows.

Ladoja called on all governors in the  South West regardless of their political leanings to meet and agree on how to address the problem of insecurity in the zone.

He also appealed to the Federal Government to boldly admit that insecurity has pervaded the clime adding that no responsible government would close its eyes while people are being killed and maimed on daily basis.

The former Governor justified the proscription of the National Union of Road Transport Union whose members have become security threats in the state.
