The Civil Society Coalition on Sustainable Development in partnership with other major constituent Groups in Ogun State has said it is ready to offer citizens solutions in line with the Agenda of the incoming administration to help achieve an inclusive Governance process for quality service delivery in Ogun State.
The body for Civil Society and Constituent groups including leadership of NLC, TUC, ASUSS, OGCCIMA, NASSI ,NCWS, NYCN,NAWOJ, Guild of Editors, FIWON, CDC, JONAPWD, FOMWAN, League of Imam and Alfas were unanimous at the end of their one day meeting facilitated by DFID/PERL at Park Inn, Abeokuta on Monday 27th May, 2019 that purposeful engagement is necessary to meet the peoples needs from the Government.
In a release issued in Abeokuta and signef by Tola Adenekan JP.the Media and Mobilisation Officer CSCSD, Ogun State, said the meeting noted that it is interested in building a greater Ogun State, hence the reason to partner with the incoming administration through citizens’ participation which would help drive the success of the outlined intended projects of the incoming administration in the state.
At the end of the one day stakeholders meeting, the Civil Society partnership group developed a working document through which it can offer adequate support to the Dapo Abiodun Administration by leveraging on the Government Agenda.
Chairman BOT of CSCSD, Rev Fr John Patrick Ngoyi in his opening address explained that the focus of the group is to make available valuable resources to the incoming administration and to ensure that there is effective citizens participation.
Ngoyi added that, “ the partnership with the incoming administration would promote the Open Government Partnership, a global agenda to promote Transparency, curb corruption, empower the citizens and utilisation of ICT platforms to advance communication of government programs"
Speaking on the challenges facing certain sectors, The State NASSI Chairman, Olusegun Dada noted that, “we know there are unique challenges in Ogun but there are immense opportunities that could be tapped into to address it, and as a civil society group, we are ready to work with the government to ensure citizens’ needs are met.”
Other contributors including State NLC Chairman Comrade Bankole, The State Chairman of CDC Alhaji Rasak Kupoluyi and Prof. Helen Bodunde noted that synergy among the constituent groups will enhance the fortune of Ogun State under the incoming administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun whose utterance since his election has rekindle hope in the Citizenry.
