The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has assured the people of the state that his administration would provide “people-centred”
governance that that identifies with their yearnings and not the ones
that glorifies the welfare of cronies and family members.
He equally promised never to betray the trust reposed in him during
the March 9 governorship election in the state, but rather serve them
with integrity and all sincerity.
Abiodun, who gave the assurance n his inaugural address after his
swearin-in as the fifth civilian governor of the state which took
place on Wednesday at Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta,
the Ogun State capital promised that his administration would
priorities the welfare of the civil servants in the state rather than
compounding their problems and denying them of their rights.
He said, “I can assure all and sundry that the government under my
watch will be people-centred. The government will be our government,
not their government. I have experienced ups and downs of life like
any of you. I can relate to your challenges.
“I solemnly accept this responsibility with all humility and sense of
history. But I remember one of the witty but wisdom-laden sayings of
the hero of our current democratic dispensation. The man that the
stadium in which this event is taking place is named after, Aare MKO
Abiola. He once said “no one can clap with one hand”. The task of
building our future is a collective task. It is beyond what I alone
can shoulder or the team that will work with me in government. Rather,
it is an Aaro that we owe each other”, the new governor said.
"I will govern with character. I will serve you diligently and
sincerely; I will make your interests the core of governance. I will
neither personalise nor abuse the mandate; I will not betray your
trust".
"I can identify with your dreams. You want a government that works for
you, and not for cronies and families".
"Let me pledge once again, that I, Adedapo Abiodun, will keep faith
with the people. I will lead with integrity and sincerity. My
Administration will be fair, just, equitable and inclusive".
The new governor however, reeled out programmes and policies which his
administration intended to execute in the areas of qualitative
education, health care delivery, agriculture, infrastructural
development that focuses on rural, township and industrial roads.
Abiodun explained that the new Ogun state government under him would
revitalise the kind of late Obafemi Awolowo's farm settlements schemes
that provided jobs for several thousands of the South West youths and
also service the industrial needs to the country among other programme
of actions.
