Ex-Local Government Chairman Escapes Death at APC Presidential rally

Former Chairman of Abeokuta South Local government area of Ogun State, Hon Olusola Ekundayo was on Monday attacked by some people suspected to be political hoodlums.



Olusola Ekundayo who was also a House of Assembly aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress was said to have been attacked on his way from the campaign ground where President Muhammed Buhari addressed the APC supporters.

An eyewitness told Our Reporter that Olusola Ekundayo was waylaid at Leme area, a stone thrown to the campaign rally ground, beaten to a pulp, adding that his wife may also be in the vehicle with him.


It was also gathered that the attackers had been on the trail of Ekundayo and his family for a political reason.


Eyewitness who spoke with Our correspondent at the scene of the incident, said the hoodlums trailed Hon.Ekundayo to the area of parking lots. 


A taxi driver who witnessed the attack said "I was inside my cab when the incident happened.  I observed that about four boys who wore fez caps approached Hon Ekundayo as he was on his way to the parking lot.

They trailed him to Lee where they attacked him .


The witness revealed that Ekundayo's attackers were thinking that both his wife and children were in the vehicle that fateful day, for they thought he had arrived few days ago with his family from Canada.


 But as luck will have it, his wife and children were not in the vehicle.

Our witness said that the attackers might have been on his trail for almost three days until he was caught up with at Leme.


It was also gathered that during the attack on Ekundayo, his car was badly damaged and attempt to set it on fire was violently rebuff by sympathizers who came to his rescue and took him to unknown hospital.
