Osun State NUJ Correspondents’ chapel on Monday, January 7, 2019 elected new set of officers
In an election conducted by a 3-man panel, Olaniyi Ajibola of Daily Post who was the chapel Secretary emerged as the Chairman by defeating the incumbent Chairman, Hameed Oyegbade of Daily Trust by 18 votes to 10 votes.
Lateef Dada of Blue Print Newspapers, a former auditor of the chapel defeated Yinka Salaam of the Voice of Nigeria (VON) by 19 votes to 9 votes.
Jide Idowu of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) was returned unopposed as the chapel Treasurer,
Yetunde Oladejo was also returned as the chapel Financial Secretary while Ayobami Rafiu Agboola was returned unopposed as the Assistant Secretary respectively.
The oath of office was administered on all the elected officials by the State Council Secretary, Boladale Bamgbola while the chairman of the state, Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji lauded the transparent, open peaceful election as he enjoined members to continue to live in love and unity.
The Zonal Secretary of NUJ Zone B, Gbolagunte Bamgbola commended the exercise as he charged the partisan politician and organizations to follow the example of the chapel.
In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, Comrade Olaniyi Ajibola pledged to reposition the chapel as he promised a listening servant leadership that would serve the interest of all members.
Declaring the election as no victor, no vanquish, Ajibola sought for the cooperation of all members in the task ahead.
