The Story of One Mr Oluwole Oyenola and his family is pathetic, requires Government Intervention and Cultural Flexibility which if not done as a matter of urgency may continually threaten a once Blissful and Happy family.
Looking worried and dejected,Oluwole who now moves his family from one Hotel accommodation to the other and at times from one Friends house to the other is seriously embittered about the Insistence of members of his Paternal family to subject his first Daughter to Forceful Traditional Circumcision and Simultaneously his wife to a traditional ritual activities which is against their faith and belief.
According to him as a practising Christian... "If any man is in Christ,Old things have passed away and all things have become new"..
He posited that as a practising Christian he has taken his family through some spiritual deliverance process and his family is covered by the Blood of Jesus.
He furthered explain that since he is not ready to compromise ...his Paternal family have continually threatened him with "fire and brimstone" which had created a sense of insecurity to his family..
According to him..."My family is the reason why I cannot live together with my wife and children ...I have vacated my accommodation due to perpetual threat to my family and life"
In Nigeria and Many part of Africans Communities, a lot of People face several threats and persecution arising from non compliance with their traditional beliefs and culture because it negates contemporary modern development and culture.Many at times this cultures are diabolical and threatened human coexistence and values
Oluwole experience is one out of several Millions of Nigerians and Africans undergoing threats and persecution due to their Principle Position against traditions and Cultural beliefs that is contradictory to their Religious Norms and Values.
One now wondered how long would this traditional beliefs continue to threaten peaceful coexistence within the Nigeria States and various Communities at large.
The Nigeria Constitution Guarantees Freedom of Worship,to Belief and Religious activities that will not endangered the life and properties of others.
As events unfold we hope the family concern we allow superior reasons to prevail while knowing fully well that Culture and Belief is premised on Existence of Life and Good Living and without a Guaranteed Security of Life and Peaceful Coexistence, Culture and Traditional Beliefs may soon be a Vapour that may disappear into the atmosphere.
Therefore only Sustainable Tradition and Culture that will guarantee Growth and Development within our Society, Communities and families should be enforced back up with sustainable institutional framework and legislative support.
