A religious group, the Latter Day Saint Charities (LDS) has inaugurated two boreholes it sunk in two Edo communities-Efosa in Uhunmwode and Ugbegun in Esan South East local government areas.
The borehole water project was constructed in collaboration with the Edo State Government as part of its contributions to humanitarian interventions to provide quality access to healthy consumption of clean water.
Inaugurating the water project, Governor Godwin Obaseki who was represented by Engineer Emmanuel Ofoedu of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, said it was his desire to provide portable water to rural dwellers and all inhabitants in the state.
Governor Obaseki who appealed to the communities to imbibe maintenance culture by not letting the project to rot away commended them for providing generator to power the boreholes.
According to him, “The Governor is so passionate about water and you will soon have more. The governor is always ready to make everybody happy. That is his own believe and idea. This is why we are here to support the donors on the water project.

“The community must ensure the project does not fail. With the generator provided by you, we are optimistic that you will uphold its values.”
Spokesperson for the donors, Elder Max Reynolds, said they planned to alleviate poor water conditions across Africa as well as fulfill the needs of the people.
Elder Reynolds stated that they were committed to providing portable water for the people.
Secretary of Efosa Community, Comrade Aghahowa Obayuwana, said they had faced water hardship and had to go to neighbouring villages or streams to get water.
At Ugbegun community, His Royal Highness, Onojie Zarki II hailed the donors and the state government for providing clean water for his people
