Nigerians on social media have expressed dissatisfaction with a statement allegedly credited to the President Muhammadu Buhari’s led Federal Government that “40 million Nigerians are mad”.
The spokesperson of the president, Mr. Femi Adeshina, however denied that the president didn’t make such statement.
He said: “Evil minds claim President Buhari says 40 million Nigerians are mad. Fake news. They now play with the mental health of people to gain political advantage. Beware of them.”

Our correspondent gathered that the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Abdulaziz Abdullahi, actually made a similar statement not President Buhari.
The PS was quoted as speaking at the mental health action committee and stakeholders workshop in Abuja.
He said: “In Nigeria, an estimated 20 to 30 percent of our populations are believed to suffer from mental disorders. This is a very significant number considering Nigeria has an estimated population of over 200 million.”
Here are some of the reactions:
He wasn’t d person dat said it, it was d perm. Sec in d ministry of health that said such and the word was mental disorder not Mad as alleged.

It’s on record he said it just like he said that Ganduje is a very responsible man despite the Gandollar series in Nigerian cinemas😭😭😭😭😭

I don’t want to waste my time trying to prove my point because even with Gandollar series online Buharists like you said that the videos were doctored. I pity democracy 😭😭😭

Buhari has even said the worse. Your greatest mistake as a party is to be allowing a undiplomatic man like Buhari to be granting interviews. He has made caricature of Nigeria before other nations with his unguarded thoughts. In his footstep we have Onochie, Lai Moha and Bello.

Buhari said members of APC are mad that’s why they will defend anything that happened during Buhari regime and still proudly live among sane people
