The Army on its Facebook and Twitter accounts stated that Boko Haram’s top commanders, Abu Rajal and Tuja Sa’inna Banki were killed during clearance operations.
The Army noted that troops of 25 Task Force Brigade Chibok and 28 Task Force Brigade Damboa, embarked on Joint Clearance Operations from Gumsuri to Gambori in Borno State on 9 November 2018.
The Army said during the operation, they cleared and liberated some villages, adding that reports reaching Army Headquarters confirmed two high profile Boko Haram commanders were killed.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Yusuf Buratai is said to have commended the troops and urged them to carry out further incursions and clearance operations to ensure remnants of the terrorists are wiped out.
Also, on 9 November, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Fighter jets neutralized several Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) at Talala in Borno State.
Air Force spokesman, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola said the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Lafiya Dole attacked the terrorists at the location.
He explained that the operation was carried out following intelligence reports that the BHTs relocated fighters from the fringes of Lake Chad to establish new camps along the Talala-Ajigin-Buk axis of the State
