EKSG suspends flitching activities in its forests

The Ekiti State Government has suspended flitching and all other forms of unauthorized logging activities  in all the 16 Local Government
areas of the state indefinitely.




The decision was taken at a meeting of Forestry and Zonal Officers held with the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Environment
in Ado- Ekiti.



 The Permanent Secretary, Mrs Foluke Adeyemo who said the suspension became necessary to curtail the abuse of flitching activities noticed by  the government in its forests, threatened to confiscate any
vehicle caught involving in the unwholesome and illegal act and sell off the planks on the directive of court order.



The Permanent Secretary, who said government has taken necesary steps to block all revenue leakages as it was not ready to lose revenue from whatever source, however directed all Forestry officers to be on
24-hour patrol to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
