Adara, Maiwada Galadima and his wife were kidnapped last Friday at Maikyali village along Kaduna – Kachia road in Kachia Local Government area of the state. The kidnappers killed four people on his entourage before going away with the monarch.
The Nigeria Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo, said that the incident happened at about 6:30 pm last Friday.
While reacting to the death of the monarch, Samuel Aruwan, media aide to Nasir El-Rufai, said it was necessary for the state government to reinstate the 24-hours curfew in order to maintain peace in the state while they mourn the King.
“This is necessary step to help maintain peace as we mourn the death of HRH Agom Adara, who we lost in the early hours of today to the criminals who abducted him last week,” Aruwan said.
He said that “the criminal elements, who perpetrated this crime should not be allowed to divide us, This is a struggle between good, decent, law-abiding people trying to uphold the peace and criminals, who want to divide and destroy.”
The state governor had on Sunday imposed a 24-hour curfew following a communal clash at a market in Kasuwa Magani village that claimed no fewer than 55 lives in the state.
“Many people have been killed. According to what the police have briefed me so far, 55 corpses have been recovered; some burned beyond recognition,” said the governor who condemned the clash in strong terms.
The clash, which left several others injured, broke out on Thursday after some youths attacked the market in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state.
The incident was said to have snowballed into a crisis between two youth groups of different religion.
However, the governor’s media aide in his statement on Friday said ‘it is not a struggle between religious or ethnic groups. Let no criminal find succour in faith or tribe.”
