Concerns As Thunderstorm Struck 23 Cows Dead In Ekiti Community

About 23 cows have been reportedly killed by a thunderstorm in an Ekiti community following a heavy downpour, thereby causing a lot of worry in the community.



The deafening thunder storm, it was learnt, accompanied the torrential rainfalls which lasted several hours in the community.

The ugly incident which occurred at Okeowa Eluju , a farmstead in Iloro-Ekiti  in Ijero Local Government area of the Ekiti State has caused panic in the agrarian community.

The owner of the cows, Mr Abdullahi Kadiri, while narrating the incident to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday described the incident as a strange occurrence.

Kadiri who is an herder of Fulani of Ilorin descent said, “I went to farm after about six hours heavy down pour Monday morning only to discover that 23 of my cows had died.

‘’There was no traces  of bodily injuries on the dead cows .I want to believe it is an act of God ,since I did not offend or quarrel with anyone .”

The cow merchant who hinted that he was born into business over 35 years ago said he had not experienced such before.

The Regent of the community, High Chief Joseph Alofe who also spoke on the incident described Kadiri as a complete gentle and peace loving business man who cannot hurt a fly.

The community leader who also described the incident as strange called on well- meaning individuals to assist the herder in order to revive his business and get over the losses incurred.
