The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties CNPP, Ekiti State chapter has lauded the current harmonious working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government in the state, despite the majority of the current members of the state house of Assembly are members of opposition party, PDP.
The fact that, both the new government of Dr. Kayode Fayemi of APC and majority members of the state Legislators have decided to put their political differences aside in the best intetest of the state is commendable and needs to be sustained in the overall development of the state.
This was contained in a release signed and made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti by its State Publicity Secretary Prince Ayo Adelabu.
The current understanding and political tolerance between the executive and legislative arms of government in Ekiti state was as a result of the believe of the Lawmakers in the ability of the new governor, Dr. Fayemi to bring about a real development into the state.
It is to say the least that, "what the Legislators in Ekiti in the last three years had experienced in the hands of the former governor Mr. Ayo Fayose who is currently facing corrupt charges with the EFCC, could be best described as slavery and dehumanising".
Mr. Fayose throughout his tenure turned the legislative arm of government into a mockery and an appendage of the executive because of his greediness and barbaric conducts at treating the Lawmakers.
The CNPP descibed the changing in the leadership of the House recently as not only a good omen for the state but also a long due sacrifice needed to move the state forward, especially at putting the body in the right position in order to earn public respect.
The House before now was seen and held by the public as an Agency under the state government and the development had no doubt slow down the real development that could have been witnessed in the state but rather shameful corrupt practices by the executive arm without being checked.
The former governor would not have had a free day, if the former leadership of the House had lived above board and performed their functions as the through representatives of the people who voted them.
Therefore, the new event in the state within the first ten days of the present administration, especially the abrogating of taxes levelled on the pupils and students of both primary and secondary schools in the state by the former governor Ayo Fayose is a testimony that, the present administration will be a departure from immediate past government.
The CNPP commended Dr. Fayemi on the latest feat of "free and compulsory education" for primary and secondary school students of public schools in the state, adding that, the development will further improve education standard in the state.
"Education remains one of the major catalysts needed for a real development and future of any society which any reasonable government will not toy with".
While congratulating the Teachers and Parents, the CNPP also charged other Stakeholders in education sector to always work towards the advancement of the sector in the State.
