The Oyo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress(APC)'is yet to find a lasting solution to its struggle to compromisingly pick its governorship candidate and National Assembly candidates our Correspondent reliably gathered in Ibadan.
A meeting convened at the party Secretariat in Ibadan on Tuesday ended in a stalemate as three aspirants picked for the party to face the gubernatorial primary are yet to emerge.
The meeting which was a follow up to that of Sunday which was more of a monologue as Governor Ajimobi dominated the talk where he made a futile effort to make the aspirants see reasons to embrace his suggested indirect primary and submit names to him
Similarly ,no agreement has been reached among the army of aspirants for the National and state Assembly
Meanwhile ,the Minister of Communications, Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Shittu has obtained his gubernatorial nomination form in Abuja and resolved not to have anything to do with Governor Ajimobi.
The meeting, which took place on Saturday and Sunday between Ajimobi and all the gubernatorial aspirants was shunned by Shittu, who is one of the people jostling to succeed the governor
Shittu who is said to be out of Nigeria at the moment, obtained the form through Saheed Oladele, Head of Adebayo Shittu Strategy Committee and Malik Aderogba, Head of Special Tasks for Adebayo Shittu’s Campaign Organization on Monday.
With this development, Shittu will be testing power with Ajimobi’s perceived candidate and other aspirants jostling for the number one seat in the Pace Setter state.
He said, “Director of Media and Strategy, Mr Saheed Oladele, and the Head of Special Tasks for Adebayo Shittu’s Campaign Organization, Mr Malik Aderogba have just obtained expression of interest and nomination forms on behalf of the Honourable Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu.
In a related development Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala who was among the army of aspirants has debunked the rumour that he has defected to amother party.
The former Governor who spoke throughone of his aides reiterated that since he has obtained his form and letter of intention,there would be no going back
