The gubernatorial primary to pick the flag bearer for the ruling All Progressives Party, (APC), in Osun State for the September Governorship race has been rescheduled for July 19
Sources from the party caucus hinted that the postponement was effected due to logistic reasons among which was to prevent the opposition from exploiting the possible conflict in the party to dislodge it, APC from power.
A top officer of the party who is also the National Secretary of APC, Alhaji Naba Buli in a statement apologised to numerous aspirants for the shift in the date of the.primary.
He reminded the aspirants that the sales of forms would be between Monday July 9 and11 with N5.5 Million.
Meanwhile, the last.minute decision to impose Alhaji Bolaji Oyebanji a Commissioner for Finance as his choice aspirant has been reversed.
Consequently, both Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and Alhaji Oyebanji would, along over 20 aspirants are to face the party's primary on July 19 to test their popularity .
Oyetola who was earlier said to be the anointed man for the Governor left for Lagos to protest his replacement by Oyebanji prompting the intervention of Senator Bola Tinubu on the matter.
Oyetola was alleged to have tongue lashed the Governor and who was accused of making a U turn from the former position which drew many supporters to Oyetola.
The political jobbers on the assurance that Oyetola has reclaimed his support from Oyebanji, like traditional chameleon have returned to the status quo.
Most of the aspirants who are banking on the sympathy that the leading parties namely APC and PDP have in principle zoned the Governorship to Osun West are now on their last leg of scheming to emerge the governorship candidate of their party.
