The death has been announced of a great philanthropist and community leader, Alhaji Atanda Shoboyede He was aged 84
He was born on May 19th,1934 into the family of Mr&Mrs Sanusi Shoboyede of "Agbole ile-Monde compound" in Itoko, Abeokuta,Ogun State and was the Only surviving child of his mother's Children to Pa.Sanusi Shoboyede.
His father was a Bricklayer and a business man of note later in his life while his mother:Late Mrs Mobolaji Ayinke Shoboyede was a business woman who was privileged to be bestowed with the prestigious title of "Iyaloja Of Itoko" during her lifetime. His father: Late Pa.Sanusi Shoboyede immensely contributed to the construction of the First Mosque in Itoko both in cash and kind....It is worthy to note here that Alhaji Rafiu Atanda Shoboyede was popularly known amongst his friends as Sho;alias "Baby Wanted" due to his trademark dressing from his young age.Alhaji Rafiu Atanda Shoboyede attended St.Augustine Primary School in Abeokuta for his elementary education. After his Primary School education,he proceeded to the "Lisabi Commercial College also in Abeokuta but was forced to withdraw from the school due to financial constraint of his parents as at the time. And so, was compelled by the circumstances of his parents to enrol as an apprentice at a Carpentry/Furniture Workshop also in Abeokuta...Upon his graduation,the young Alhaji Rafiu travel to Lagos for a greener pastures and work for different companies popular amongst whom is the Construction Giant of note: Alfred and Alberto @ Ilupeju Mushin,Lagos.
Furthermore,his search for more knowledge on his Carpentry/Furniture Work,persuaded the young Alhaji Rafiu, to enrol for a Diploma course in Construction/Carpentry at the Yaba College of Technology..And tired of working under a paid job,the young Alhaji resigned from the company services and delve into a business of Rentals,Thrift Collection,Transportation business, and also established an Estate Agent Company registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission and popularly known as "IREDE Rent Office at Akodu Street in Mushin and it environs as well as here in Mafoluku, Oshodi,Lagos respectively.
It is also worthy to note here that Alhaji Rafiu Atanda Shoboyede went to Hajj in 1976 in order to fulfil one of Allah(SWT) injuctions to all Muslims who have the wherewithal to observe the Hajj in Mecca.
Alhaji Rafiu Atanda Shoboyede,was a man of many parts in his environs in his lifetime.
He was a Former Chairman of Taoheed Adeyemi Aranse Oluwa Mosque.
He was also the Chairman of Wabi-Larinde Street for many years till he died.
He was also the Chairman of Elemo/Ogunoloko Landlord Association consisting of more than 40 Street till he died.
Meanwhile,in 2013,Alhaji Rafiu Atanda Shoboyede travelled to the United States of America to visit his eldest surviving son,Barrister Akeem Soboyede and his family with so fond memories which he treasures and cherished till he died.
Alhaji is survived by his Three(3) late wives and so many children and Grandchildren.
He has since been buried according to Islamic rites, but the final burial will comes up on the 22nd July, 2018.
