Admission racketeering: Police academy denies giving preference to Kano applicants

The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil has debunked the alleged admission lopsidedness in favour of Kano State applicants into the academy .

The management of the academy was accused of violating federal character principles in its last admission exercise, essentially to pave way for additional slot for the state ’ s indigenes.
Reacting to the allegation , spokesperson of the Academy, Muhammad Sabo Kurawa, said the allegation was baseless and mischievous , stressing that the academy is guided by the employment policy and would not do anything to violate the trust.
In a statement signed and made available to The Guardian , Kurawa insisted that no applicant of any state was favored at the expense of another . ”
The allegation is false , coming from mischief - makers , just to tarnish the image and efforts of the panel carefully selected by the Federal Government , headed by Minister of Interior , Lt. Gen . Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau .
Kano State has the largest number of qualified applicants for the coveted position of the provost .
It is not because the academy is in Kano or the panel is unduly predisposed to assist Kano indigenes, ” the statement said .
